This Privacy Policy explains how FinTabi (“FinTabi,” “we,” “our,” or “the App”) handles information when you use our iOS application. We built FinTabi around a simple principle: your financial data belongs to you, stays on your device, and is never sent to our servers — because we don't have any.
01 Who we are
FinTabi is developed by FinTabi Inc. (“we,” “us”). If you have questions about this policy, contact us at support@fintabiapp.com.
02 The short version
- FinTabi stores your financial data — transactions, account balances, budgets, goals, and vision boards — locally on your device.
- If you enable iCloud sync, that data syncs through your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit framework. We do not operate, host, or have access to the servers that store your synced data — Apple does, under Apple's own privacy and security terms.
- We do not run our own backend servers that store, process, or have visibility into your financial data.
- We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
- Certain optional features (described in Section 4) may send limited, non-financial information to third-party services to function — these are clearly described below.
03 Information we collect
3.1 Financial and personal information you provide
When you use FinTabi, you may enter or import:
- Bank and credit card transaction data (via manual entry or by importing PDF or QFX bank statement files you choose to upload)
- Account balances and account nicknames you assign
- Budgets, financial goals, and target dates/amounts
- Retirement planning inputs (e.g., age, savings rate, projected contributions, assumptions you enter into the retirement simulator)
- Vision board content, including images, text, and goal descriptions you create within the app
This information is collected and processed entirely on your device. We do not transmit this information to any server we control.
3.2 Information processed for statement import
When you import a PDF or QFX bank statement, FinTabi parses the file locally on your device to extract transaction data. The original file and parsed data remain on your device (and sync via your iCloud account, if enabled) and are not uploaded to us.
3.3 Device and usage information
If FinTabi uses Apple's App Analytics (App Store Connect), Apple may collect aggregated, anonymized usage data (such as app launches, crash reports, and feature engagement) as governed by Apple's own privacy policy. We may view this data only in aggregate, anonymized form — it is not linked to your identity or your financial data.
3.4 Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or other account-identifying information, unless you voluntarily provide it (for example, by contacting support).
- We do not collect or have access to your bank login credentials.
- We do not access your contacts, camera roll (beyond images you explicitly choose to add to a vision board), location, or microphone.
04 How your information is used and where it goes
4.1 On-device processing
All budgeting calculations, transaction parsing, retirement projections, and vision board features run locally on your device using on-device processing. This data is used solely to provide the app's functionality to you.
4.2 iCloud sync (optional)
If you enable iCloud sync, your FinTabi data is stored in your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit framework, allowing you to access your data across your own devices. This data is encrypted in transit and at rest under Apple's iCloud security architecture. We do not have a server-side copy of this data and cannot access it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, available at apple.com/legal/privacy.
4.3 AI-assisted features
No off-device AI assistant features are included in this app. AI features are only processed on device; no data is ever sent off your device for processing.
4.4 Bank statement import
PDF and QFX files you import are parsed locally on your device. We do not transmit these files to any server.
05 Data sharing and third parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or financial information. We may share limited information only in these circumstances:
- With Apple, as necessary to provide iCloud sync, App Store distribution, and (if enabled) App Analytics, governed by Apple's own privacy practices.
- If required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of FinTabi, our users, or the public.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will provide notice before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
06 Your choices and controls
- Disable iCloud sync at any time in Settings — your data will remain local to that device only.
- Delete individual items — transactions, accounts, goals, or vision board items — at any time within the app.
- Delete all FinTabi data by deleting the app, which removes local data, and by removing FinTabi's data from iCloud via Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage on your device.
- Decline optional AI-assisted features entirely; core budgeting and tracking functionality does not require them.
07 Data security
Because your financial data lives on your device and, if you choose, in your personal iCloud account, its security is primarily governed by your device's security (passcode, Face ID/Touch ID, device encryption) and your Apple ID account security. We encourage you to use a strong device passcode and enable two-factor authentication on your Apple ID. We follow standard secure coding practices in building FinTabi, but no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
08 Children's privacy
FinTabi is not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at support@fintabiapp.com.
09 Your privacy rights
California, EU/UK, and other jurisdictions. Because FinTabi does not collect your financial data on our servers and does not maintain accounts tied to your identity, there is generally no personal data for us to access, correct, or delete on our end — that data resides under your control, on your device and in your personal iCloud account. Where applicable law (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation) grants you rights to access, delete, or restrict processing of personal information we do hold (for example, support correspondence), you may exercise those rights by contacting us at support@fintabiapp.com.
10 International users
If you use FinTabi outside the United States, your iCloud data is stored and processed according to Apple's iCloud data residency practices for your region. We do not separately transfer your data internationally, as we do not operate servers that store it.
11 Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of FinTabi after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
